FIFA 23 Video Game Predicted FIFA World Cup Winner, For the Fourth Year in a Row

EA Sports Fifa 23

Fans may be elated or sad at the FIFA World Cup Finals. However, EA’s FIFA 23 predicted that the outcome would be the same in real life.

EA’s latest FIFA game FIFA 23 was used to predict the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 winners, as per tradition. Surprisingly the simulation correctly predicted that Argentina would win. This is the 4th consecutive time this has happened. The simulation didn’t get every detail right.

FIFA 23 simulated the entire Round of 32 teams that qualified for the FIFA World Cup. It predicted Argentina as the winner, with Emi Martinez receiving the Golden Glove and Lionel Messi taking home the Golden Boot. This simulation prediction was made on November 8, before the actual world tournament.

There were some interesting differences, such as Kylian Mbappe winning the Golden Boot for France and Argentina facing France in the finals. Mbappe played an incredible tournament and scored a hat trick in the finals. Unfortunately, France did not win. The Golden Boot race was close, Messi scoring 7 goals to Mbappe’s 8.

It was predicted that Argentina would face Brazil in the finals. France came third. Brazil lost to Croatia in the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. All other matches were simulated by FIFA 23.

Even though it was a close match in the FIFA World Cup, history was made thanks to the pitch and the game version. EA’s FIFA games were able to predict the correct winners for the first time in 2010 when Spain won. The simulation was then able to predict the FIFA World Cup winners for France in 2018 and Germany in 2014.

EA’s Super Bowl simulations were not able to replicate the same magic, so the results are a bit less surprising. VGC noted that only 5 out of 11 Super Bowls had been correctly predicted by the simulation.

The game accurately predicted Super Bowl 49 when the score was exactly the same in the match between Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots. It seems that EA can only predict one type of football.

This was a cool way to see the simulations succeed for the fourth consecutive time, but it could also be a disturbing indicator that could cause a lot of disruption. It could be that it shows how accurate each team’s performance was at the time. We will need to see the fifth reading in 2026 for more information.
