Dungeons & Dragons Invades Minecraft in Its Fully-Voiced Role-Playing DLC

Minecraft

Minecraft receives its first voice-animated DLC that includes the Dungeons & Dragons RPG-style adventure with four classes as well as dice rolling.

The Minecraft community will be able to have the opportunity to participate in your own Dungeons & Dragons journey within the vast landscape of blocks.

In the Wizards of Coast’s (WotC) D&D Direct presentation the company announced a partnership with the developer Mojang Studios to create a Dungeons & Dragons DLC for Minecraft. The first Minecraft fully voice-acting adventure, but it didn’t announce the characters. The RPG is a narrative-based premise that will take about 10 hours to complete the first playthrough. It also incorporates D&D traditional features such as spells, ability scores, and dice rolling.

Minecraft’s D&D DLC Pulls its Story with Jumanji

Riccardo Lenzi who is the Senior producer at Mojang Studios revealed that DLC includes a “game within a game” similar to the latest Jumanji films, where the game begins in a player’s basement. Players are introduced to a DM who explains the rules of D&D and guides them to create characters that are based on one of four types: Paladin, Barbarian, Wizard, and Rogue. Then, they’re thrown into the Forgotten Realms and undergo an adventure. While it’s not fully open, it offers vast cityscapes and landscapes that players can explore on their way.

The Minecraft x Dungeons & Dragons DLC offers multiplayer and single options that emulate the characters of D&D. A significant part of the story also revolves around the loss of a dragon’s body due to mysterious circumstances and is then forced to share one together with the user. According to the team behind the game, the result is a lot of exchanges between the character of the player with the dragon. The fans can also expect to meet a variety of famous cities as well as creatures of D&D which include Mimics, Displacer Beasts, and Beholders.

Minecraft Monsters in Dungeons & Dragons

In addition to D&D being available in Minecraft, The monsters from the game’s blocky world will also infiltrate the players’ TTRPGs. D&D Direct also announced Monsterous Compendium Vol. 3, Minecraft Creatures, which includes stat blocks for a variety of the most popular monsters. They include Creepers, Endermen, and the Ender Dragon The latter of which is equipped with characteristics that make it suitable to be a final boss and also to be woven into a narrative for the campaign.

Although Minecraft has collaborated with a number of major franchises before such as Avatar: The Last Airbender The scope of the DLC is a first for the hugely popular game. Previous collaborations typically included skins as well as other additions to the game’s aesthetics for players. Mods allow players to integrate other IPs from major companies into Minecraft for example, Elden Ring and even an open-world Pokemon adventure, however, Mojang has not yet launched something that is as comprehensive in the same way as Dungeons & Dragons DLC.
