What are Instagram Notes? New Feature Brings Back AIM Nostalgia.

Messaging-Stories-Bundle

This new feature allows users to make 60-character statuses that last 24 hours.

Instagram introduced a new feature this week. Users think it’s giving us early aughts nostalgia.

The app will add a Notes feature to act as an “away messaging” similar to AIM. According to a Meta blog announcement, the addition will allow users to “share their thoughts and see what friends are up to.”

Notes are short-form messages that can only contain 60 characters or emojis. They will not appear for more than 24 hours. You have the option to choose who sees your note: followers, people you follow, etc. You can either share it with your Close Friends list or select who sees it (followers, people you follow, etc.). You can delete the Note if you want, but it cannot be edited.

How to use Instagram Notes?

Simply go to your Instagram inbox and click the “+” icon next to your profile photo to create an Instagram note. You will then be asked to “share your thoughts” and create a maximum 60-character snippet.

Your Note will be visible for 24 hours after you choose whether to share it with your Close Friends List, or all of your followers that you follow back.
